On Sunday we had the pleasure of throwing a little inaugural barbecue to celebrate our first weekend at the soon-to-be greatest hang out spot in SoCal. If you haven’t heard of NORUSH by now, it’s time you stopped living under a rock.
NORUSH is many things. One, it revolves around true Japanese styling of cars. But it goes beyond that. NORUSH is an absolute fantastic group of friends who could easily consider each other family. There is nothing more joyful than sharing the same passion with cool people who you can spend hours on end with reading (aka looking at pictures) Doriten and watching Option.
Dom fired up the grill and threw on some amazingly juicy carne asada, tortillas and rice.
I went and grabbed us some beer. Someone once told me, “You can have any brew you like, as long as it’s a Corona.” So instinctively, that is what I brought us.
Some of the fellas used this golden day as an opportunity to start putting this magical place to use. Jackie had some new brake pads to throw on his street tune S2000.
Dom’s dad, who has multiple victories in the Formula Atlantic series, passed on his beloved Porsche 944 Turbo for Dom to road race. Naturally, he’s already replaced the stock wheels with new Volk RE30s and pulled the Sparcos out to replace with this Recaro.
Sean from Narita Dog Fight (no, he doesn’t actually fight dogs in Narita) brought his one and only car to the shop as well…
This car is great. An EM1 that Sean purchased new in high school, this car remains his daily driver; and he isn’t exactly a cashier at your local Walmart.
I once had the privilege of driving this car to the supermarket taking some windy roads and the freeway. no interior, no power steering and a low-comp B16 make this car feel like you’re taking the back sweeper at Tsukuba Circuit everywhere you go.
Since Sean is fortunate enough to visit Japan very frequently, he seems to bring back cool knick knacks and stickers from every trip. While he always shares with us, he definitely keeps some interesting ones for himself.
One that blew my mind was the B-Wave sticker he received from MR. B-WAVE himself!
Since Yuta has been driving his EF9 around and Franklin’s SR Z32 still doesn’t run, he kindly lent his convertible S13 so Franklin could come and visit us from Riverfail regularly.
Jay brought us some cool eye candy to start putting up.
I think Franklin is the original model for Wallace and Gromit with that smile.
All in all, it was a great time and I look forward to many more weekends like this one at the NORUSH shop.
