I went to the shop for an hour after work today and made a little bit of progress before I go MIA on some upcoming jobs starting this week.
I finally got the S14 subframe into the R32. Although the Skyline sedan and S13 share identical subframe mount points, the S14 subframe does not bolt right up with SPL offset bushings into the 4 door. I had to use both shims above the front bushings and hammer the frame rails to get the traction rod mount on the subframe to clear and sit flush on the mounts.
Hammered frame rail.
It also looks the Skyline rear lower control arms mounts are about 1/4″ smaller than the S14′s RLCA mounts. Looks like I’ll have to swap everything out in the rear including the spindle, wheel hubs (seized), and adjustable arms (current ones are Godspeed from the previous owner FAIL).
I also worked a little in the engine bay, pulling out the brake booster and throttle cable. The booster will need to be sanded down and re-painted black after 20+ years of leaking brake fluid and corrosion, and the RB20 throttle cable will be too short for this RB25 w/ Greddy intake as the throttle body will no longer be in its original position over the valve cover.
That’s my small update for today! Stay tuned for seam welding in the engine bay, followed by engine mock up, intercooler mounting and piping. Then comes engine bay paint! Yay!

teddy is the v8 just for lulz, cuz u talk about rb25 still? just curious =)
Just wanted to see if someone would catch that
It belongs to my shop mate, Mark.
Hahaha I was about to ask about that, then I read on and you still spoke of RB… all is right with the world!
I nearly through my phone out the window when I saw that. Glad it was a joke!

Came across this site randomly from your facebook, I was interested in the “s14 subframe in the r32″ title because I have read from a few different places lately of people doing this swap, along with front LCA from s14′s into r32 chassis as well. Might be a noob question, but what is the reason for doing these conversions??
Honest question and figured it couldnt hurt to ask
The main reason I did it was because the sedan comes with super hicas, also known as 4 wheel steering which is not desirable for drifting. Most people will just get a Hicas lock bar to replace the rear steering rack, but their toe is still adjusted by tie rods which are very skinny and weak. Since the Skyline shares the same subframe mount points as an S13, I was originally going to just swap in an S13 subframe just to eliminate the whole Skyline’s subframe design altogether, but then I realized if you can swap an S14 subframe in an S13, and an S13 subframe into a Skyline then why not use the S14 subframe instead, which is a better design for corrected suspension geometry from what I understand. The ideal swap would be an S15 subframe, but those are hard to come by stateside. As far as the front LCAs, I don’t know why those get swapped, mine will remain stock for now.
