I’ve been on the same set of coilovers since the beginning of time, or at least since I’ve had the car. So that dates back to the end of 2005…over 6 years of street and track drifting, and even daily driving for a while, when my car was respectable as a street car.
A few months back, I decided grow up and follow the “function over form” saying. I raised the front of my car a couple inches to give that reverse rake that s13′s perform well with, added the PBM angle kit and aligned it to custom drift specs with the help of our friend and professional driver Quoc Ly at DriftSpeed. But once I raised my car from being slammed, I re-gained all of my shock travel and it was apparent right away that my old megan coilovers were completely blown. It looked like I was hittin’ switches in a six-fo’ while sideways. This was a no-no, and the car was quite unpredictable. So we contacted long-time rally driver and 2011 Formula D Rookie of the Year Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis over at FEAL Suspension in Rancho Cucamonga. When it comes to suspension, this guy knows what he’s doing. Alot of his business is rebuilding motocross and automobile suspension components. I handed over my old Megan Coilovers and he got to disassembling almost immediately. Once in the rebuilding process, he decided to re-valve them in a way he knows will work perfect in the S chassis, tossed the hefty, over-stiff springs that come with the megan coils, (12/10) and paired each corner with new Swift Springs. He says usually he’ll put 8k’s up front for s13′s with SR’s, but since the 1jz runs a bit heavier, he threw on some 9k’s up front and 5′s in the rear to get that nice squat to put down the power. Swift Springs are truly linear and have more travel than the springs that came on the Megan’s, which tend to coil-bind before the shock itself even bottoms out.

The following day, Odi and I went out to Thursday Night Drift at AMP to have a little fun and test out my new setup. It squats and puts down all the power it couldn’t before, and with a little more adjustment it should have even more lateral and forward grip. Since then, Odi has deemed this service as the “FEAL UPGRADE” and can now be found on his website at www.fealsuspension.com. There are prices listed, but please note that those are a ballpark figure, and are subject to change depending on the service and what you bring him. You will not regret this upgrade. Don’t waste your money on buying a new set of coilovers when you can have yours treated with the Feal Upgrade for LESS than a new set of coilovers. Thanks Odi!!! <333
